Why Myton?
Myton Nurses take time to REALLY CARE...
I truly believe that The Myton Hospices is an extraordinary
organisation providing a Platinum Care service throughout Coventry and Warwickshire.
But don’t take my word for it…….READ THEIRS…….
At Myton we believe…….
* Everyone deserves to have a dignified, peaceful and pain free death
* No one should die in fear or alone
* Everyone matters until the last moment of their life
Its not just about the patient……Families are important too and we ensure
* Reassurance and support
* Gift of time
* Good Memories
Our care supports over 2,000 people across Coventry and Warwickshire coping with a terminal illness. We have specialist palliative care doctors and consultants and a range of medical and support services BUT its …
Our nurses that are at the heart of everything we do
Everyone deserves a Myton nurse
Sadly the reality is with current resources we can’t reach out to everyone…..
* 60% of patients die in mainstream hospitals (70% of those didn’t want to)
* Patients with a terminal illness are often on a waiting list for our care
* Carers and families don’t get the support they need in the community
OUR VISION…
* To open 2 more beds by 2012 and a further 2 by 2014
* To extend Myton at home across Coventry and Warwickshire
* That families have the support to care for a loved one at home
* That no-one who needs our care is on a waiting list
1 nurse would help us care for up to 43 more patients each year
It costs…..
£21to provide 1 hour of specialist nursing care
£30,000 to recruit, train and support 1 nurse for a year
MYTON FACTS:
* Not just cancer – any terminal illness
* 50% of our patients go home
* 42% of our patients are under the age of 65
* Approximately 31% of our running costs are currently paid by the local Primary Care Trust leaving £6.7 million to be raised from charitable donations.
* The Myton Hospices is the only provider of in-patient hospice care exclusively for the people of Coventry and Warwickshire, supporting people aged over 18 whose condition no longer responds to curative treatment.
* We have 34 in-patient beds across our sites at Warwick and Coventry; day hospice facilities at Warwick, Coventry and Rugby and have recently launched our new Myton at Home service in the autumn of
2011.
